Why is it important to examine your religion for false prophecies?

If you find there were many false prophecies before you were baptized, should you just ';move on'; and ';stop living in the past'; of your religion? Why is it important to examine your religion for false prophecies?
We are commanded throughout the Bible to watch out for false prophets and false teachers. All the way from this Torah reference to the New Testament.

Deuteronomy 18:21 Now if you say to yourselves, ‘How can we tell that a message is not from the Lord?’ – 18:22 whenever a prophet speaks in my name and the prediction is not fulfilled, then I have not spoken it; the prophet has presumed to speak it, so you need not fear him.”

Jesus, Paul, John, Jude and Peter all gave instructions in the New Testament to watch out for these deceivers. When something is mentioned this many times, it is always important. Why is it important to examine your religion for false prophecies?
Yes, move on, then ask what's next?
you mean like the battle of uhud? when muhammad prophesied victory, but was defeated and had his face slashed and his teeth broken, and many apostasied. clear proof he is not a prophet of god and should not be followed by anyone.

the bible, on the other hand, has never been wrong. israel sits there as a nation in fulfilment of a 2700 year old prophecy. and lets see... dome of the rock began construction 688, israel reborn 1948 = 1260 years, we have a match! the dome of the rock is the abomination of desolation. or at least the shadow. bible prophecy rules with 100% accuracy and no other can make this claim. there are thousands of other prophecies fulfilled exactly to the minute detail. seek and you will find. the bible is more up to date than tomorrows news headlines.

so yes i totally agree that you should investigate prophecy to see if your religion is true.
I think that depends somewhat on whether there are other prophecies of your religion that you do adhere to now. I mean, if your church has decided it's apparently not cut out for the prophesying business then I think there's no reason to dwell on past prophecies. But if there are other prophecies emphasised right now or in the future then I think past prophecies are still (or again) extremely relevant. So no matter what you should remember them, in case someone decides it's time to believe in any kind of prophecy again.
I would not want to be a part of the false prophet.
Prophecies, religious or not are extremely hard to verify. I'd rate them next to personal experience as far as evidence goes, in other words meaningful to the individual but completely worthless otherwise.
REVERT TO ISLAM
I think you need to listen to that inner voice, you know the one that tells you when you're doing wrong, or doing right? Religions have tried to preempt that voice, because how can can they control you if you have the voice of God inside, telling you right from wrong anytime you choose to listen? Screw prophets! you've got radio station WGOD playing in your head any time, , all you have to do is tune in to that ';small still voice';.
Truth helps
You should question everything and if it won't stand up to questioning, you should reject it. Life is so much better when you don't have to lie to yourself to keep your beliefs in place.

Good Luck!

OT
What ';false'; propecies are you referring to?

The Bible states: ';All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.';

2 Tim 3:16, 17
Because religion is the best incubator for all kinds of false prophets.
So that we stay with the Truth.
Because the devil presents himself as an angel of light. Might I suggest that people seldom think their religion could possibly teach false prophecies. Most people who are baptised do so confident in the knowledge that their beliefs are founded on God's word.

However, if you were to discover that what you believed could no longer be backed up by the Bible, or that the founders and leaders of your religion were surreptitiously falsifying their claims or even denying facts that could be substantiated, then your conscience would demand that you disassociate yourself from such falsehood.

This happened to me. It was only when I turned to God and asked him to help me that a way forward was presented. Trust God and trust his holy word. Men are fallible and the devil is cunning.
Are your sources credible? That goes for those making a claim on both sides.

OUT
Apply God given common sense and you will turn your back on idiotic religious dogma.
If your religion has false prophecies in their past. They are a false religion. If you find they have false had false prophecies before you were baptized you need to move on. I mean by that, move on to another church. Disassociate yourself from them. You are the company you keep.
So that you can stay with the Truth, Jesus Christ who is our Lord God and Savior. So that no one can rob you from your salvation
Anything of God that is false should be stopped because

God is truth.
Have you ever seen prophecies which were fulfilled (except the prophecies from the Pythia in the Greek legends)?

Its always afterward, when they say : yeah, Nostradamus was right . Its like a horoscope, you find what you search for.

Don't look for false prophecies, any prophecy is false, especially if it is used to keep a community together!
