Mormons... will you accept that Joseph Smith made false prophecies?

In 1835 Smith claimed that the Lord would again come in just 56 years. We would gather from this ';prophecy'; that Jesus Christ would again come to earth on or before 1891; no doubt Joseph Smith was incorrect (History of the church 2:182). In 1832 Joseph Smith claimed he had a revelation concerning the building of a temple in Independence, Missouri. According to section 84, verses 4 and 5, of the Doctrine and Covenants, he stated this ';temple shall be reared in this generation. For verily this generation shall not pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it...'; to this day the spot consecrated by Smith fails to be the sight of a great temple, but instead is covered with a well-kept lawn. In fact, the Mormon church does not even own the land.

Please, discuss. And forgive me for not responding beyond here. Mormons seem to think I'm ';chatting'; by discussing matters further beyond the initial question and flag me relentlessly for it. LOLMormons... will you accept that Joseph Smith made false prophecies?
Obviously they never question prophecies or their leader J. Smith. It is much easier to just go along with whatever their leadership tells them.

The Fundamentalist LDS church is an example of what can happen when you follow human rules and not put a relationship with God before man.Mormons... will you accept that Joseph Smith made false prophecies?
If some small percentage of his prophecies haven't been fulfilled, then he is in good company. Other old testament prophets have made prophecies that didn't come to pass. Jonah is the most obvious example, but there are many others. One hundred percent accuracy is not the test of a true prophet. If they are sent from God, then they are a true prophet. Christ himself explained how to tell a true prophet from a false prophet. He said that by their works ye shall know them...
No, I will not.

1. Joseph never said 56 years or 1891. He said the Lord told him that if he lived to be 85 years old the Lord would come again. He didn't even reach half that age. He was murdered when he was 38. See the link below for the text.

2. The term ';this generation'; should be taken in the same context that you take it in Matthew 24:34, Mark 13:30 and Luke 21:32.
God's Word clearly tells us to ';test the prophets.'; If a prophet makes just one false prophesy, he is a false prophet. J. Smith made several false prophesies, yet he is still defended to this day. It's simply a matter of whether or not to accept God's Word as Truth or not.

Great question and God bless you for it!
Frankly I am disapointed in your arguments. They are obviously taken out of context. They are obviously compiled by a pastor who is feeding his congregation hate filled propaganda.

You first have to understand what can be classified as a prophecy and what is classified as speculation. A prophet can do both.
It's not possible to make false prophecies when there are no true prophecies to begin with! OWNED!
im not mormon but i dont think there are any modern prophets....JESUS TOOK THEIR PLACE WHEN HE DIED AND its no longer necessary..
FairLDS has long since disputed these claims. Go to their site and look for the answers yourself.
Who cares what they believe? Why does it bother you?
personally i don't believe him but if my sister-in-law heard you say that oh boy i'd never get the end of it.
give them a break, you believe in the rapture for chrissake
I swear I just answered this question...maybe it was someone else.

1) Here is the ACTUAL ';prediction'; about Christ's supposed return. This isn't even a prophecy...

';I was once praying very earnestly to know the time of the coming of the Son of Man, when I heard a voice repeat the following: Joseph, my son, if thou livest until thou art eighty-five years old, thou shalt see the face of the Son of Man; therefore let this suffice, and trouble me no more on this matter. I was left thus, without being able to decide whether this coming referred to the beginning of the millennium or to some previous appearing, OR WHETHER I SHOULD DIE AND THUS SEE HIS FACE.'; D%26amp;C 130:14-16.

Joseph wasn't even sure whether this referred to Christ's return, or his own death. Obviously, it was that latter. This wasn't even a prophecy. But even if it was, it's been fulfilled...since Joseph was dead by 1891.

2) Generation could refer to several things. But of course, you use the definition that would turn it in to a failed prophecy and disregard the other possibilities. ';Generation'; wasn't meant as narrowly as you are applying it. Joseph's prophecy hasn't happened yet, but it will.
You, like many others, do not understand the difference between prophecy, doctrine, assumptions...

When Joseph asked the Lord when He would come again, the Lord told Him IF he lived to be a certain age - like 50 or something - then he would see Him. See the contingency there?? IF he lived that long, which he did not. Basically the Lord was telling him not to worry about it.

As far as the temple in Missouri... how do you know one will not be built there someday? When God said ';this eneration'; which one was He talking about? He could be speaking of a future event. What will you think when there IS one built there? Will that change your mind about Joseph? I doubt it.

So there you go. Explained. Though I doubt you will accept those explanations.
Just because a prophet says something doesn't mean it's prophecy. They do have their own opinions. Just because a prophet says something doesn't mean we just accept it as fact. We do ask God ourselves if what we heard is from Him, or just the personal opinion of someone.

Prophets are still human. They still sin, and sometimes they can misinterpret what is told to them. That doesn't make them a false prophet, just human.

Does that mean that I believe that Joseph was wrong? No. I accept his prophecies. The things we don't understand doesn't mean he was wrong.

Also, just because God says something doesn't mean He isn't allowed to change it. Maybe there was supposed to be a temple there, but because of the designs of unrighteous men, it wasn't possible to build it. People do have agency, and when it goes against God, it can change plans. Maybe what we consider a generation is different then what God considers a generation.
What...? Joseph Smith made false prophecies? !!!

Just for you to know the truth of lds

If you are humble, please... Pray to know the truth from true God by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit with great faith and do what is right for you and sometimes, things can be right in your point of view but wrong in Public point of view so

Basically, just pray about it for the Good Answer and try to do the God's will first always

And

I have true testimony of true God

Please, just try to understand the fundamental...

If you think, why so much trouble and pain in this world鈥? Then there is only one reason, without pain, No pleasure and without pleasure, no pain. So without them, we cannot enjoy this life so always we need them in our development towards the perfection of God. So-so, you use pain and pleasure instead of pain and pleasure use you. And

It is Wonderful鈥?wonderful nature for us by the true鈥?God. And

we all make mistakes so it is hard to look for star in daylight. So just in faith鈥?it is possible. Like that the faith in true God. And If you think, even expert can be wrong then you have to make the fine research in all most everything so It is hard and some time, it is impossible to achieve so Why we need inappropriate action to find the owner of higher power? SO,

So, just try to understand, because of Lack of faith in true God, we do not have the great gift of understanding of things so just

understand this please.

We cannot get anything from nothing so changing something into this perfect state, we need something or someone so all things are spiritually first, to govern everything by God. So, closely, Have a look at this world of wonders of yours and then you know the truth, when you listen to your real voice and then Having a strong desire to do the best every day then stick with the best to do your best. And most importantly, try to be grateful for what you have now and try to know where you come from to have the great gift of understanding and then, have the faith to become the best winner in your life. And this is the best meaning of happy life.

And

The Low of mercy cannot rob the Low of justice so God provided the way to our salvation to overcome our sin so Jesus Christ sacrifice is much needed to return to live with God, because God is perfect in perfection so Jesus Christ is our savior to pay our punishment of our sin so-so Because of the perfect love of god for you. So God gave Jesus Christ for us ~ FOR US ~

Well,

It is the time to make the great decision.

Good luck.

You have sent your question to the wrong address. Back to the sender.

What kind of response do you expect to get? That's naivete.
yes . The Iraq is the new Israel
Christianity is documented as being very untruthful in the Bible prophecies, too...

There are no prophesies whatsoever in the Old Testament about any 2nd coming! Jesus was telling some of the Jews that he was setting up a kingdom of some sort in their own lifetime, but they all died and he NEVER accomplish that.

Mat 16:28 I tell you the truth* (*duck!), some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.';

But to some other Jews he told them that nobody, but nobody including himself knows when God will send him back to be their King! Caesar God was a God King. God the Son Jesus Christ was the alleged God, too King of the Jews. The day of the 2nd coming to be their King will come as a total surprise even to Jesus!

Mark 13:32 (Jesus said) No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, NOR THE SON, but only the Father.

The Eastern soothsayers came to visit the ';Newborn King of the Jews';鈥?The last question that the Jews asked Jesus was about his promised kingdom (Acts 1:6-7). Jesus told them to never mind!

The Jews were never delivered from the Romans, but they were almost exterminated. The Jews wised up and dropped Jesus very quickly. For Christians it may take a little longer. Each person has his/her own degree of gullibility.

No fault of the Jews. They really wanted to make Jesus their king by force, but Jesus chickened out! Very few Christians want the world to know this fact!

John 6:15 (NIV) Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

The last time that he came to Jerusalem (Palm Sunday) he made all the Jews to believe that he was going to become their King, but he was teasing them!

John 12:13They* (*big crowds of Jews) took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, ';Hosanna!'; ';Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'; ';Blessed is the King of Israel!';

But Jesus had no intension to become anybody鈥檚 king! He also told Pontius Pilate that his kingdom was not of this world! So much for the ';Newborn King of the Jews!'; Pilate had to put a sign on top of the cross to remind everybody about the recanted ';Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews';.

Christians ALWAYS accuse the Jews for rejecting Jesus! Hardly any preacher ever mentions the fact that the Jews really wanted to make Jesus king by force. Throughout history a lot of Jews lost their life because of this accusation!

The idea of a 2nd coming is what guarantees Christianity a long lasting life raking billions of dollars and laughing all the way to the bank!!! Christianity has no redeeming qualities whatsoever!!!
