There are no false prophecies.
A true prophecy does nothing to test the believer's faith, so is not very useful.
A prophecy which is not fulfilled allows the believer to show how strong their faith is.
True faith only begins when you show up to collect your winnings on a horse that never even ran.
Your definition of prophecy seems to mean ';foretelling the future.';
However, the correct interpretation should be ';telling the truth.';
If you 'test the spirits' and compare with the Holy Spirit that dwells within you (if you are a Christian), then the answer to your hypothetical question is, ';One.';

Did the founder of LDS claim to be Gods prophet? ...and each successor? Yes.
That they have made prophecies, and then corrections to the prophecies is well known ..........thankfully, we do not have laws that demand stoning any more, which gives them opportunity to leave a counterfeit belief.
